History Our History
We are a locally owned and operated full-service hardware, serving the Toledo area since 1946. Fleegers PRO Hardware was founded as Fleegers Feed Store by Walter L. Fleeger and one of his three sons, Paul M. Fleeger.
It all began at 7818 W. Bancroft Street in Toledo, Ohio, when a building addition was make to the barn to give Honey, the family cow, a new home. In 1954, the business expanded into a complete hardware store. Upon graduating from college, Eugene J. Fleeger joined his brother Paul. It was in 1962 that we started our affiliation with Bostwick-Braun Company as a PRO Hardware store.
A second store was opened at 4400 Heatherdowns (Toledo) in 1968 and later was moved to its current location at 2149 S. Byrne in October of 1986. A third store was purchased in 1980 at 2767 W. Central (also Toledo). This store was closed in September of 1998. Our original location on West Bancroft closed in November of 2009 after 63 years of business.
Fleegers was founded on the values and principles of being a service to the community and strives to be an asset to the quality of life of the people we serve. We continue to use these guiding principles as we change and grow to serve the community. We thank the community for their support and hope you will give us the opportunity to serve you with your next do-it yourself project. We not only offer free problem solving advice, but also offer free popcorn and a smile with each purchase.
